「芝居」は日本語では「演技・役割を演じること」の比喩です。英語では role（役割）、act（芝居・演技） などで表現します。
模範解答は playing their own role、別解は their own act を使っています。どちらも正解です。

only he himself tells lies がすっきりしています。he is the only one who lies も可。

while other people never do（while は対比）がスマート。and that other people always tell the truth でも十分です。

think that they alone are actors が最も自然です。alone は「～だけが」という強調。only they are actors も可。
